Aerial photo of Tucson in 1956

Striking aerial photo shows beauty of Old Pueblo. Taken just before noon partially cloudy day, 120 square miles of Tucson and western tip of the Santa Catalina Mountains. Photo was taken through red filter and infra-red film allowing camera to see through haze of the clouds. Shutter speed was only 1/25th of a second, the picture is acceptably sharp. Temperature was 18 degrees at the 17,500-foot altitude reached by the Super Cub flown by Hudgin Air Service, about 60 degrees on the ground. March 8, 1956. Photo by Tommy Carroll.
