Animal shots of the week

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick holds two male black bear cubs being evaluated and weighed by the state Division of Fisheries and Wildlife Monday, March 4, 2013, in Conway, Mass. The cubs' mother was sedated and examined before all three were returned to their den. The agency began its study of the bears in 1970 in cooperation with the University of Massachusetts Amherst. When the study began, there were about 100 black bears in the state. The population has since grown to about 3,000 bears. (AP Photo/Greenfield Recorder, Paul Franz)
