A U.S. District Court judge in Texas has ruled that Asarco LLC and its parent company must work out a deal that could be worth more than $6 billion to the Tucson-based copper producer.
Judge Andrew S. Hanen ruled Wednesday that Asarco and Mexico City-based Grupo Mexico must hash out a settlement that needs to include, among other things, Grupo Mexico returning stock that amounts to a 54.18 percent share in the Southern Peru Copper Company.
