NEWS
A U.S. District Court judge in Texas has ruled that Asarco LLC and its parent company must work out a deal that could be worth more than $6 billion to the Tucson-based copper producer.

Judge Andrew S. Hanen ruled Wednesday that Asarco and Mexico City-based Grupo Mexico must hash out a settlement that needs to include, among other things, Grupo Mexico returning stock that amounts to a 54.18 percent share in the Southern Peru Copper Company.

ARIZONA WILDCATS
Opinion by Greg Hansen
Across five months, Jim Livengood researched every conceivable elite-tier coach in college basketball.

LAW AND ORDER
A former Tucson man convicted in the October 2001 rape of a local teenager was sentenced to 18 1/2 years in prison Thursday - a sentence he won't begin serving until after his current prison sentence expires.
