One person was killed and four injured - some seriously - in a three-vehicle collision Saturday on Interstate 10, authorities said.

The crash occurred in the westbound lanes near Red Rock about 1 p.m., the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.

The injured were taken to a hospital, while one person was dead at the scene, said Patrick Calhoun, spokesman for the Avra Valley Fire Department.

Two other minor crashes occurred as traffic was being routed off the interstate. No injuries were involved, Calhoun said.
