A link in a chain of local coffee shops will close Sunday.

Owner Ike Isaacson said the Ike's Coffee & Tea at 3400 E. Speedway will close its more than 11-year-run at the location because another business bought out his lease.

Isaacson said he expects most of the 13 employees at the location, a mix of full and part-timers, to lose their jobs, although he will try to find some of them work at other Ike's locations. There are four Ike's at the Tucson International Airport in addition to another location at 100 N. Stone Ave.

Isaacson said the employees will continue to be paid through Feb. 6.

"We were presented with an offer to buy out our lease, which we accepted," Isaacson said, adding that the Speedway location will be taken over by a "food-related enterprise."

"I love my emplooyees, and it has been a great experience," Isaacson said. "I'm proud of the relationship we've built with all of our customers and staff. It was a tough decision."
