Anthony's in the Catalinas, once Tucson's pre-eminent Italian restaurant, closed on Tuesday, capping a 25-year run in the foothills.

Restaurant officials announced the closing in a Facebook posting just after noon today:

"We are very sad to announce that after 25 years Anthony's in the Catalinas is now closed. We are very proud of all we have done and glad to have served all of you. Thank you for all your support."

The restaurant's answering machine has a similar message and the restaurant's webpage had been taken down.
