Phoenix-based beverage distributor Hensley Beverage Co. is expanding in the Southern Arizona market with a new office and warehouse on Tucson's southeast side.
The company will distribute non-alcoholic beverages, wine, liquor and some beers from the new facility, set to open on Jan. 10 in the Rita Ranch Commerce Center, 9337 E. Old Vail Road.
Hensley, the Anheuser-Busch distributor for the Phoenix area, said it won't distribute Budweiser or other Anheuser-Busch beers from the new location, which will employ 12 people.
Tucson-based Golden Eagle Distributors Inc. holds exclusive distribution rights for Anheuser-Busch products in the Tucson market.
"This is considered a market expansion of various beverages, excluding Anheuser-Busch beers," Doug Yonko, Hensley vice president of communications, said in a statement. He noted that the company will distribute some non-Anheuser-Busch beers from the Tucson location.
The timing of Hensley's expansion into the Tucson area was motivated mainly by its recent acquisition of Arizona-based Quench Fine Wines, Yonko said.
Hensley currently distributes domestic and imported wines in the Tucson area through its Quench division and will distribute those wines from the new Tucson facility.
Non-alcoholic products that Hensley will distribute from the new site include Xyience Energy Drinks, Xing Tea and Dad's Root Beer; as well as Popchips potato chips. The company also will distribute spirits including Hammer+Sickle vodka, High Spirits brands, and 3 Amigos Tequila, made by a firm based in the Phoenix area.
"This new facility is not only a testament to Hensley's commitment to the Tucson area; this location will allow our company to support its growing non-alcohol, spirits and wine business in the southern region of the state," said Andy McCain, Hensley's chief financial officer.
Besides Tucson, Golden Eagle has Anheuser-Busch distributorships in Buckeye, Casa Grande and Flagstaff, as well as branch operations in Globe and Show Low.
