Telecom vet Gunther AZ CenturyLink chief

CenturyLink, which acquired Qwest Communications on April 1, has named Guy Gunther vice president/general manager for the greater Arizona markets for the combined company.

Gunther, who will relocate from Denver to Tucson, has 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. He spent the last nine years with Qwest and most recently led marketing strategy and customer experience organizations for its consumer business unit.

Gunther received a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Colorado in Boulder and a master's degree in marketing and economics from the University of Chicago.

Heart Assn. turns to Roubal-Brown

The American Heart Association Western States Affiliate has named Lisa Roubal-Brown executive director of its Southern Arizona Division.

Roubal-Brown has been with the American Heart Association since 2009, most recently as development director for its Southern Arizona Heart Ball. She increased year-over-year Heart Ball revenue by 16 percent, increased current donations by 19 percent and recruited 56 new volunteers, the association says.

Previously she served as national sales manager for Avalon Waterways and Group Voyagers in Littleton, Colo. From 1990 to 2008 she was a leader with the University of Arizona Alumni Association. She holds a B.A. in communications from the UA.

Westward Look hires restaurants director

Morgan Puffenbarger has joined Westward Look Resort as director of restaurants. He will oversee the Gold restaurant, Lookout Bar & Grille, the Monsoon Café, Oasis poolside bar, and room service.

He will debut new fall menus at Gold and Lookout this month, among other promotions he plans.

Puffenbarger attended Sahuaro High School and the University of Arizona, and has been involved in the food/beverage industry since 1988 in Tucson, Phoenix, San Francisco, Las Vegas and in Chicago, where he owned two restaurants.

Adams now managing Tucson Fed biz loans

Krystal Adams is now a business loan manager with Tucson Federal Credit Union. Adams brings more than 16 years of banking experience including an extensive management history. Among other positions, she was a vice president for Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco and for Union Bank's East Bay Corporate Banking Division. She received her business degree from St. Mary's College.
