5 companies, 5 students awarded district ADDYs
Twelve entries from American Advertising Federation Tucson received American Advertising Federation District 12 ADDY Awards in judging last weekend in El Paso. They now quality for national judging in May.
The federation’s District 12 includes Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and El Paso.
Tucson winners of district ADDYs were: Crown Chimp Productions, three silvers in audiovisual and cinematography; Abbott Media Productions, silver in animation/special effects; Buffalo Exchange, silver for branded environment; Casino del Sol Resort, silver for apparel; James Patrick Photography, silver in color photography.
Student winners were: Matthew Mann of the Art Institute of Tucson, gold in campaigns; Marcus Coltrin of Pima Community College, gold in illustration; Emeric Charley of Southwest University of Visual Arts, gold in animation/special effects; Ronnie Reimers Jr. of the Art Institute of Tucson, silver in packaging; and Anthony Ezra Arvizu, Art Institute of Tucson, silver in packaging.
Credit-union group honors Vantage West’s Ramirez
The Mountain West Credit Union Association named Robert D. Ramirez, president and CEO at Vantage West Credit Union, as Professional of the Year.
The award recognizes industry executives who have demonstrated productive service to their credit union, its association and its subsidiaries, as well as the credit union’s chapters, the Credit Union National Association, and any other service on a local, national or international level. Credit-union professionals from Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming are eligible.
Rep. Gabaldón of Sahuarita receives leadership award
The Pima County Board of Supervisors recently presented Rep. Rosanna Gabaldón, D-Sahuarita (District 2), with a Community Leadership Award.
Aspiring chef at PCC going to national competition
Pima Community College culinary arts student Mateo Cancio will be one of 10 aspiring chefs in the national Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Jeunes Chefs competition June 11-13 in Las Vegas. Cancio won the Far West Region competition March 23 in San Diego to qualify for the national competition.
Entrants are given a mystery basket from which to create a three-course meal for four in four hours. Cancio’s winning menu was roast pheasant with fennel, hand-made beet fettuccine with pan-seared sea bass and sautéed shrimp, and avocado chocolate chai mousse with poached berries and berry sauce.
St. Mary’s Hospital honored for quality of stroke care
The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association recently presented Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital with its Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus and Target: Stroke Honor Roll quality achievement awards. This is the fourth consecutive year St. Mary’s has been honored.
The awards recognize St. Mary’s for complying with each of the association’s seven stroke achievement measures in at least 85 percent of eligible patients. Dr. Francisco Valdivia is medical director of the hospital’s stroke program.
Park Avenue Health & Rehab wins 5-star rating again
For the second year in a row, Park Avenue Health & Rehabilitation was recognized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Arizona Department of Health as a 5-Star Quality Rated provider of skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care and memory care services. Park Avenue has also achieved a Deficiency-Free Survey Rating from the Arizona Department of Health.
