From cargo movers to customers, brokers and gadget makers, the second annual Intermodal Development Expo for Arizona and Sonora (IDEAS) featured dozens of vendors and speakers.

The event was held Wednesday at the Port of Tucson, on the city’s southeast side.

Who was there?

A shipping company from the Philippines to a warehouse owner in Nogales — the event’s participants were diverse in size and region.

What did they learn?

Presentations came from maquiladora operators, railroad executives, private corporations and federal officials from the Department of Homeland Security. The expo featured private break-out sessions for companies to discuss specific details of doing business.

What is
the goal?

As Arizona and Sonora business and political leaders continue to work together as a region, these events offer a chance to make introductions and feature services.
