For those looking for some booze to pair with exotic foods, a north-side Trader Joe's will soon be the first in Arizona to offer alcoholic beverages beyond beer and wine.

The store at 4209 N. Campbell Ave., near East River Road, is set to start offering spirits in two to three weeks, Trader Joe's spokeswoman Alison Mochizuki said in an email. Mochizuki would not answer additional questions about the new offerings.

Tucson's City Council approved an application for a transfer of a liquor store license with sampling privileges from Santa Rita Market in South Tucson to Trader Joe's in March, the City Clerk's Office says.

There were no written statements for or against the license transfer.

Trader Joe's does not list all of its products online, but an online newsletter highlighted Highland Single Malt 10 Year Aged Scotch Whiskey with a "slightly floral nose, toffee and apple flavors and a pleasantly smooth, oaky finish" selling for $23.99.

The California-based chain is known for its inexpensive Charles Shaw wine, dubbed "Three Buck Chuck."
