Paul Vasquez, a certified bonsai instructor, demonstrated his craft in a demonstration at Civano Nursery a year ago.

The Civano neighborhood is hosting an open house - dubbed "Discover Civano" - from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to showcase homes, art studios and businesses there.

Visitors must register the day of the event at the Civano Neighborhood Center, 10501 E. Seven Generations Way, where they will receive a self-guided walking tour map.

Civano, on South Houghton Road between East Irvington and East Drexel roads, features more than 50 local businesses, including the popular Civano Nursery. Several of them will have their workshops and studios open for tours, and many private homes will be open as well.

The tour map will include the locations of homes with different types of eco-friendly construction. Those residences can be viewed from the outside.

The tour is free, and food and drinks will be available for purchase.
