Coldwater Creek has begun liquidation sales at its Park Place and La Encantada stores as the company prepares to close its 350 stores nationwide as well as its website.

The Idaho-based retailer of women’s fashions and accessories filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April after it couldn’t find a buyer or source of capital to help turn around the struggling business.

Large “store closing” signs are draped above the entrance at the Park Place store. People hold signs near East Broadway and North Wilmot Road advertising the liquidation sale. All merchandise is marked down 40 to 60 percent off.

Exact closing dates have not been set for either Tucson store. The Park Place location will be closed “later this summer,” said Brighid Brown, marketing manager for Park Place. And an employee at the La Encantada store said it will be open “through June and partway into July.”
