Deadline is Friday for youth jobs, classes

The deadline is 5 p.m. Friday to apply for placement in minimum-wage jobs, or an opportunity to earn high school credits, through the Pima County One-Stop Career Center's Summer Youth Program.

Youths ages 14 to 21 can apply online at or can pick up an application form at a local high school, community center or library.

Public can pick finalist for Goodmans award

Goodmans Interior Structures has announced the Tucson finalists for its Goodmans' Eye for the Good Guys Board Governance Award. Members of the public may vote for a potential winner.

The award recognizes the most effective nonprofit 501(c)(3) boards of directors, one in Pima and one in Maricopa counties. Goodmans will donate a $20,000 new collaborative work environment to the winning organizations.

The Tucson finalists are:

• Assistance League of Tucson.

• Beads of Courage.

• Children's Museum Tucson.

• Junior League of Tucson.

• The Edge School.

Vote until March 22 at

The winners, to be announced in April, will be determined based on a tallied score from a questionnaire, the judges' review of the answers and public voting.
