Gas prices down a bit; don't expect it to last

Gasoline prices at the pump around Arizona are down slightly this week, but analysts say higher prices are coming.

The average statewide price for regular is at $3.45 a gallon, AAA Arizona said Thursday. That's down by a penny from last week.

Tucson has the lowest average gasoline price in Arizona at $3.23 a gallon, a 1-cent drop.

This week's national average is at $3.51 per gallon, up by more than 4 cents from last week.

Analysts say higher prices are coming with crude oil now exceeding $100 per barrel for the first time since May.

Tohono O'odham ask for attorneys' fees

A Southern Arizona tribe is asking a federal court to order the state to pay $4.2 million for the tribe's attorneys' fees and legal expenses in a fight over the tribe's plan to build a casino next to Glendale.

The Tohono O'odham Nation's lawyers submitted the request two weeks after a U.S. District Court judge issued a final ruling in the case.

Judge David Campbell ruled that Arizona's compact governing Indian gaming doesn't ban more tribal casinos from opening in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

The Tohono O'odham Nation purchased the site after receiving a $30 million federal settlement to replace reservation land damaged by a dam.
