One of Tucson’s oldest cemeteries has been bought by a Houston management company.

Evergreen Mortuary & Cemetery, 3015 N. Oracle Road, was bought by NorthStar Memorial Group for $2.6 million, records from the Pima County Recorder’s Office show.

The 80-acre cemetery was founded in 1907, and its mortuary was added in 1974.

Many Tucson pioneers and homesteaders have been laid to rest at Evergreen.

William Addison Jr., whose family ran the cemetery for more than 50 years, said they chose to sell the property to NorthStar because of its reputation for “personalized customer service and deep community relations.”

He will be involved with the new management team during the transition.

NorthStar Memorial Group has cemeteries and mortuaries in 11 states. Company officials were not available for comment.
