More Arizonans plan to travel over the coming Labor Day weekend compared with last year, thanks in part to an improved housing market, AAA Arizona says.

More than 678,000 Arizonans are projected to travel more than 50 miles from home this weekend, up 5.8 percent from last year, AAA says.

Nationally, AAA expects 34.1 million people to travel, a 4.2 percent increase from 2013.

The increase can be attributed in large part to the improving housing market, which makes people more confident to spend money on things like travel, AAA says.
