A three-time winner of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, Baker represented the United States as a science delegate to China. Before being named as fair director, she participated in the science fair as a judge and as a SciEnTeK-12 board member.
Margaret Koppen has been named general counsel of CyraCom International Inc., a Tucson-based company that provides language interpretation and document-translation services.
Koppen was formerly with the local office of Standard Microsystems Corp., a semiconductor company.

Attorney Patricia Victory Waterkotte has joined the Tucson law firm Rusing Lopez & Lizardi PLLC.
Waterkotte, a native Tucsonan, specializes in complex commercial litigation, product liability, real-estate litigation and financial services. She practiced business litigation at Klinedinst PC and McGuireWoods LLP in Los Angeles for eight years before joining Rusing Lopez & Lizardi.
Waterkotte, who served as a congressional intern and caseworker for Sen. Psomas named Heidi Lasham as construction-management leader for the Tucson area. Lasham’s background includes a mix of transportation planning, roadway design and construction field experience. She is the past president of the American Society of Civil Engineers Arizona Section, a member of Women’s Transportation Seminar and of Tucson Utility Contractors Association, and an engineering mentor to the Sonoran Science Academy for the Future Cities Competition. Television journalist Lorraine Rivera was named producer and host of PBS 6’s “Arizona Week,” Arizona Public Media’s weekly news and public affairs program. Rivera will start as producer and host of the news and public affairs program this Friday. Rivera has worked in the Yuma and Tucson television markets for the last decade. She is a graduate of the University of Arizona School of Journalism, with minors in English and Mexican-American studies.
The Tucson Association of Realtors promoted Christine Sanchez to marketing and events coordinator. Sanchez will be responsible for planning and executing TAR events, including the housing market forecast, Expo trade shows and the Installation & Awards ceremony, among others. She began with TAR in 2007 as a part-time customer-service representative and ascended to housing-opportunities coordinator in 2008.
The University of Arizona College of Science announced that Bob Logan has been promoted to assistant dean for external and corporate relations. He will be central to an impending capital campaign for the college.
Logan, who has been at the UA for 25 years, has been senior director of development in the College of Science for the last 13 years.
He received his MBA from the Eller College of Management and was in sales management for AT&T Computer Systems.
He began his UA career as a football coach under Larry Smith in the mid-1980s. He spent nine years as associate director of athletics under Cedric Dempsey and Jim Livengood.

Philip Williams has joined Zanes Law, a personal injury firm with offices in Tucson and Phoenix, as operations manager, bringing two decades of executive operations experience.

John Basden is the new director of golf instruction at The Lodge at Ventana Canyon Golf & Racquet Club. A graduate of Arizona State University with degrees in fundamental education in psychology and education psychology, he is interested in “the psychological process and biomechanical fundamentals that make some golfers better than others,” The Lodge said in a news release.

Dianne Gallego-Lopez has joined Mutual of Omaha Bank as a senior mortgage loan officer.
Based out of the bank’s location at 2120 W. Ina Road, Gallego-Lopez will offer customers a comprehensive portfolio of residential financing solutions, including conventional loans, refinances, investment property loans, jumbo loans, bridge loans, FHA and VA loans and new-construction loans.

Timothy Anderson has been named director of sales at the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain.
He joins the resort from positions of director of sales and global sales for Omni Hotels & Resorts, based in Chicago. Prior to relocating to Chicago, he held several senior sales positions with the Omni Tucson National in Tucson.

Dr. Nancy K. Sweitzer will become director of the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center and chief of the Division of Cardiology in the UA College of Medicine, Department of Medicine, effective March 1, 2014.
Currently, she is an associate professor of medicine and director of numerous programs at the University of Wisconsin Cardiovascular Medicine Division in Madison. Those programs include clinical research, quality, and the heart failure and cardiac transplant programs (as interim director). She also directs the cardiovascular medicine and heart failure and cardiac transplant fellowship programs there.
Sweitzer is a board-certified advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist and physiologist.
She has a clinical research program focused on the interaction of the dysfunctional heart muscle in heart failure with the vasculature and kidneys to better understand how to improve symptoms and organ function in heart failure patients. She has done extensive work on the physiology of heart failure with preserved systolic function, a disease that disproportionately affects elderly women, UA said in a news release.
Sweitzer has led and collaborated on studies sponsored by the National Institutes of Health as well as studies supported by industry and academic sponsors. She also has served on numerous NIH committees and currently is on its Clinical and Integrative Cardiovascular Science Study Section and the American Heart Association’s Cardiac Biology and Regulation Committee.
She received both her medical degree and doctorate in physiology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1993. Prior to joining the faculty there in 2001, she completed her internship and residency in internal medicine, and fellowships in cardiology, heart failure and cardiac transplantation at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she remained as an instructor in medicine from 1999-2001.
Arizona Public Media has announced that Michael Chihak has been promoted to news director.
Chihak will be responsible for news operations and reporting on AZPM’s television, radio, online and social media platforms. Formerly host of AZPM’s weekly public affairs program “Arizona Week” and director of online news, Chihak will continue as interim host of “Arizona Week” until a full-time host has been selected.
Chihak is a former editor and publisher of the now-closed Tucson Citizen. After leaving the Citizen, he was an independent media relations consultant.
He previously held editorial positions at The Californian in Salinas, Calif.; USA Today and The Associated Press.
Chihak, a seventh-generation Tucsonan, holds a UA bachelor of arts degree in journalism.
Arizona Public Media has announced the addition of Mark Channell as associate director of development.
Channell will assist in major and estate gift development. He comes to AZPM from the University of Arizona Foundation, where he worked as a senior accountant and as a gift-planning officer, working with donors and generating estate gifts.
Before that, he worked as an accountant for Carondelet Healthcare Network and University Physicians Healthcare.
He is a graduate of the UA’s Eller College of Management and licensed as a certified public accountant in Arizona.
Arizona Public Media has announced that John Booth has been hired as executive producer.
Booth will lead and manage all aspects of planning, production and presentation of original programming for AZPM’s radio and television, as well as online and social network content.
Booth, a Tucson native, graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor of fine arts in radio and television and then spent five years at KUAT (now called Arizona Public Media).
In 1989 he moved to Portland, Ore., where over a 17-year span at Oregon Public Broadcasting he shot and edited for such national PBS programs as “The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour,” “Frontline” and “Nova”; produced and wrote programs including “Sinking the Lusitania,” “Occupied Japan” and episodes of “The Great Lodges of the National Parks” and “Great American Railway Journeys.”
From 2005 to 2009, Booth was executive producer and director of production at Eight, Arizona PBS/Phoenix. His credits include the history series “Arizona Stories,” “Arizona Memories of the Seventies,” “Under Arizona” and “Arizona Lodges.” Most recently, he was deputy director of content at KCTS 9 in Seattle.
Booth has received awards including Tellys, CINEs, a Chicago International Film Silver Hugo Award and several regional Emmys.

Le Claire comes to AZPM after working in Detroit at WDET-FM, where she launched a daily talk show and worked as a producer, morning edition host and reporter.
She also worked at Team Detroit, a global ad agency, where she produced a series of short documentaries that showcased the city’s cultural life. She has produced and art-directed independent music videos featured by Vice and MTV, and blogged for the Huffington Post.

Brown graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University in 2004. He spent six years covering Southern Arizona as a videographer at KOLD News 13. Brown has been nominated and won awards for his work, including two Edward R. Murrow Awards for videography.
Chuck Williams has joined Stantec as a senior project manager in its Tucson water practice.
Williams brings more than 25 years of experience in managing public-works projects for local government agencies.
He operated an independent consulting firm responsible for water-planning services for projects across the Southwest. He remapped the flood plains for Southern Arizona’s Santa Cruz County and carried out a management study of the Lee Moore Wash Basin for the Pima County Regional Flood Control District, in partnership with Tucson and Sahuarita.
Williams is a past president of the Arizona Floodplain Management Association and the Arizona Association of County Engineers. He also held a 20-year tenure as a member of the Arizona Department of Water Resources State Standards Work Group for Floodplain Management.

Riggins was an advertising manager with the Arizona Daily Star and Tucson Citizen newspapers for 17 years. Her advertising sales and marketing experience also includes management positions with the Miami Herald, Sarasota Herald Tribune and the Marin Independent Journal.
She is a recipient of the Charles Horne Lifetime Achievement Award for advertising, the Vic Mergard Lifetime Achievement Award with the Hearth Foundation for Homeless Women With Children, and the Tucson Indian Center’s Service and Dedication Award.
David Hatfield has been named senior director of business development and marketing for the Tucson Airport Authority, which operates Tucson International Airport and Ryan Airfield.
Hatfield will oversee airline and nonairline business development efforts for TAA, including marketing and advertising to consumers and business partners of airport services and commercial and industrial properties on airport land. He will also be responsible for community and media relations.
Hatfield spent many years in Tucson media, most recently as editor of Inside Tucson Business since 2004. Previously, he held positions with KVOA-TV 4, KOLD-TV 13 and the Arizona Daily Star.
Outside of the media, Hatfield served two terms on the Catalina Foothills School District school board.
Carondelet Health Network announces that a longtime St. Mary’s Hospital surgeon has joined Carondelet Specialist Group.
Dr. Gerlinde S. Tynan is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in surgical disease of the breast. She is medical director of The Breast Center at Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital and the Breast Health Program at Carondelet Health Network.
Tynan graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed her surgical residency at the University of Arizona. She is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
The Planning Center has hired a new planner: Steve Hagedorn.
Former planning and zoning director for the town of Oro Valley, Hagedorn brings more than 30 years of project management experience as an urban planner and registered landscape architect to the firm.
Hagedorn has served as project manager, planner, and senior landscape architect on numerous site design, landscape and irrigation design projects, as well as on parks, recreation and trails master-planning projects. He spent 11 years with Oro Valley.
The Planning Center has hired a new planner: Brian Underwood.
Underwood brings expertise as a planner, researcher and geographic information systems specialist to The Planning Center.
He specializes in land-use plan preparation and entitlement processing. Underwood has participated in local planning projects including completion of a historic preservation plan for the Warehouse Arts District north of downtown Tucson, The Planning Center said in a news release.
He holds a master of science in planning from the University of Arizona and received the American Planning Association’s Outstanding Student Award in 2012.
Evie Stamps has been promoted to director of client care for Home Instead Senior Care, from her previous position as client care manager. Stamps has been with Home Instead for more than four years, also working as a caregiver and staffing coordinator.
Peter Greenawalt has joined Home Instead Senior Care as director of operations.
Greenawalt’s background consists of operations, management and accounting in senior living the past 12 years. Before that, he co-owned and operated a medical billing and consulting company and a medical equipment retailer, Home Instead said in a news release.
Robin E. Barnes, registered landman and certified paralegal, has joined the Tucson office of Quarles & Brady LLC.

Dr. Christian J. Moher has joined Tucson-based Sinfonia as its chief medical officer.
Moher is a board certified family physician and a graduate of the University of Arizona Medical School. He has most recently been a medical director for CVS Minute Clinics and the team physician for the Tucson Padres, Sinfonia said in a news release. He is also an assistant professor at the UA College of Medicine.

She is seeking a doctorate in nursing practice in health care innovation and leadership from the University of Minnesota. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Carroll Columbia College of Nursing in Milwaukee in 1987.

As a pediatric intensivist, Whalen will care for critically ill children in the pediatric intensive care units at the University of Arizona Medical Center- Diamond Children’s and Tucson Medical Center.
Whalen earned her medical degree from Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota. She went on to complete her residency in pediatrics at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
She focuses on improving quality of patient care and communication in pediatrics and pediatric critical care. She has specific interests in the care of pediatric patients with cardiac defects.

Dr. Mridula Aggarwal has joined the University of Arizona faculty as clinical assistant professor, section of hospital medicine.
As a pediatric hospitalist, Aggarwal will care for hospitalized children at the University of Arizona Medical Center- Diamond Children’s and Tucson Medical Center.
She completed medical school at the Medical College of Virginia School of Medicine and a residency in pediatrics at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.
Before joining the UA, Aggarwal worked at El Rio Health Center, St. Mary’s Hospital and Tucson Medical Center in internal medicine and pediatrics. She is board certified in pediatrics and internal medicine.
Dr. Andrea Hobson has joined the University of Arizona faculty as clinical assistant professor, section of neonatology.
As a neonatologist, Hobson will care for critically ill newborns and premature babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the University of Arizona Medical Center-Diamond Children’s and Northwest Hospital.
Hobson earned her medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine and completed her residency in pediatrics at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson. She went on to complete a fellowship in neonatology at the University of Florida.
She has research interests in hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy and therapeutic hypothermia, and is board certified in pediatrics.

She is responsible for managing the financial operations of CFSA, which includes planning and strategic development, overseeing systems for reporting program and financial activities, and safeguarding assets.
Bowden brings 25 years of experience in bank accounting and financial reporting to the position. For the past 17 years she has been chief financial officer of the Bank of Tucson.
She has been a board member of La Paloma Family Services for 11 years, serving in roles including secretary, vice chair and finance committee member. She has also served on the boards of the Arizona Center for the Study of Children and Families and Kids-Aid.
Alexandra ‘Allie’ O’Brien has joined the University of Arizona Steele Children’s Research Center as development coordinator.
O’Brien will support the center’s director of development on fundraising and development activities. She will also serve as a liaison and representative to volunteer groups and donors who support the Steele Center; and she will assist with its expansion to Phoenix.
O’Brien recently graduated from the UA Eller College of Management with a bachelor of science degree in business management with an emphasis in global studies.
Tracy Goggin: Tracy Goggin was appointed assistant administrator of clinical operations, pediatrics, at the University of Arizona Health Network. Goggin will oversee the pediatric service line revenue cycle to include non-payor contract negotiations and management, as well as work closely with health network’s corporate leadership on global corporate projects, the UA said in a news release.
Goggin has worked with the University of Arizona Department of Pediatrics since 1995.
She started as reimbursement coordinator and for 14 years served as operations, reimbursement and coding manager, providing oversight of all clinical operations and revenue cycle activities for the department
Bill VandenBerg: Bill VandenBerg joined Lang Wyatt Construction as director of development.
He will represent the company in developing and nurturing client relationships through customer service.
VandenBerg brings more than 40 years of commercial construction and management experience. Proficient in business development and project management, he is also a LEED accredited professional as well as ASHE and MSHA certified, the company said.

Julie A. Sherrill has been named head of St. Gregory College Preparatory School. She replaced Rick Belding, who retired in June.
Sherrill formerly served as principal at Sunrise Drive Elementary School in the Catalina Foothills School District, a post she held since 2003.
Sherrill began her career as a high school teacher in California and Ohio after receiving a bachelor's degree from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif. She earned a master's degree in education administration and a Ph.D. in professional development of teachers from Ohio State University.
Sherrill served as an administrator at Ohio State before going on to serve as a high school assistant principal and a middle school principal in Ohio.
The Board of Directors of Tucson-based UNS Energy Corp. (NYSE: UNS) has named President David G. Hutchens as the company's chief operating officer.
The new, second title reflects Hutchens' direct oversight of the business operations of UNS Energy and its subsidiaries, including Tucson Electric Power (TEP) and UniSource Energy Services (UES), the company said in a news release.
Hutchens served five years as a nuclear submarine officer in the U.S. Navy and worked as an engineer before joining TEP as an energy analyst in July 1995. He later held management positions overseeing wholesale energy sales and, in January 2007, was named vice president of wholesale energy and UNS Gas, an operating subsidiary of UES. He became vice president of energy efficiency and resource planning in May 2009 and rose to executive vice president in March 2011 before being named president in December 2012.

Anne E. Cress, professor of cellular and molecular medicine and radiation oncology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson, has been named interim director of the University of Arizona Cancer Center.
Cress, who also is deputy dean for research affairs at the UA College of Medicine-Tucson, succeeds Dr. David S. Alberts, who served as cancer center director for more than eight years until his recent retirement. Alberts remains at the UA Cancer Center to conduct research.
Cress was named a research associate in 1980 and became a research assistant professor in 1981, both in the UA's Division of Radiation Oncology. She was named an associate professor in 1990 and attained full tenured professorship in 1996. She has been a Cancer Center member since 1987.
Cress also served as the College of Medicine's associate dean for research and academic affairs for six years.
Her research, which has been supported by federal and American Cancer Society grants since 1981, is focused on stopping tumor cells and preventing them from spreading throughout the body.
Cress received her bachelor of science in microbiology/chemistry and a doctorate in biochemistry/molecular biology from the UA.

Paul Cicala has been named sports director for KVOA-TV/News 4 Tucson (NBC), starting Aug. 19. Cicala joins KVOA from KVIA-TV (ABC) in El Paso, Texas. Cicala had previously worked in Tucson for KVOA and for KOLD-TV.

Brandon Cathey: Loews Ventana Canyon has named Brandon Cathey to head its Flying V Bar & Grill as the chef de cuisine.
“While the restaurant’s focus on sourcing from local and regional farmers, and popular menu items like the restaurant’s tableside guacamole, barbeque ribs and chili relleno will continue on in the Flying V tradition, Cathey plans to add his own twist by returning to the Flying V’s old ranch style of cuisine with Sonoran desert influence,” Ventana Canyon said in a news release.
Cathey, who has served as the restaurant’s sous chef since June 2012, brings nearly eight years of culinary experience. He has been sous chef and pastry chef at Maynards Market and Kitchen and chef de cuisine at Hacienda del Sol, among other positions.

Anthony Crespo: Anthony Crespo is the new director of the Diocese of Tucson Catholic Cemeteries Inc.
He replaces James DeCastro, who left the position in mid-April.
Crespo will oversee operations at the cemeteries operated within the Diocese of Tucson, which include Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Road, and Our Lady of the Desert/All Faiths Cemetery, 2151 S. Avenida Los Reyes.

Dan Derksen, M.D., professor and chair of the Public Health Policy and Management section of the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona, has been appointed to the Walter H. Pearce Endowed Chair and director of the Center for Rural Health.
Derksen joined the College of Public Health in 2012. His health-services research interests include covering the uninsured, enhancing access to quality care, reducing health disparities, and implementing community and team-based health services for rural, underserved and vulnerable populations.
He serves on the American Academy of Family Physicians Commission on Governmental Advocacy and the American Hospital Association’s Governing Council Section on Rural or Small Hospitals.
He graduated from the UA College of Medicine in 1984 and did his family-medicine residency at the University of New Mexico, where he worked as a faculty member for 25 years.
In 2011, Gov. Susana Martinez appointed Derksen director of the New Mexico Office of Health Care Reform, where he submitted the state’s health insurance exchange establishment proposal funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Derksen completed a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship in 2008 with then-U.S. Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M.
John-Michael Sauer joined the Critical Path Institute as executive director of the Predictive Safety Testing Consortium, C-Path's longest-standing research group.
Sauer, who received his doctorate in pharmacology and toxicology from the University of Arizona, most recently led research teams at Pfizer-CovX in San Diego, and at Covance in Chandler.
The safety-testing consortium brings together pharmaceutical companies to share and validate each other's safety testing methods under the advisement of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and counterpart European and Japanese regulatory agencies.
Before his work at Pfizer-CovX and Covance, Sauer held several senior positions at Elan Corp. and Eli Lilly and Co. He also served as the project leader for the National Toxicology Program within the UA Center for Toxicology.
Itzik Becher was named director of development for UApresents, the University of Arizona's professional performing arts presenter.
Becher is founder of the Phoenix-based artist management company Aviv Productions, Inc.
He will lead UApresents' fundraising efforts, which include private solicitations, event sponsorship, grant writing and a membership program.
Becher will also coordinate outreach programs. He was instrumental in launching an outreach program used in 22,000 schools in North America and Israel, UApresents said in a news release.
He has consulted for the Australia Council for the Arts, New Zealand Arts Commission and the Hong Kong Dance Company, and served on the boards of the Western Arts Alliance and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. His book, "Living Tradition," sold more than 100,000 copies.

Kelle M. Maslyn was named director of community relations in Arizona State University's Tucson office.
Maslyn will promote ASU's relationships and interactions with key business groups, elected officials and decision makers in Pima County. "She also will focus on Sun Corridor megaregion initiatives linking the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas," ASU said in a news release.
ASU's College of Public Programs has served greater Tucson through its School of Social Work for nearly 40 years. In January, the college expanded its offerings in the Tucson area to include undergraduate and professional degrees leading to careers in public service and nonprofit leadership.

Steve Nash is the new executive director of the Tucson Osteopathic Medical Foundation.
He replaces Lew Riggs, who retired as director April 30 after serving 25 years.
A native Arizonan, Nash majored in journalism and history at Northern Arizona University and earned a law degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
Nash comes to the foundation from the Pima County Medical Society, where he was executive director for nearly 22 years. Upon learning that he was leaving, the Medical Society created an award in his name that will be given regularly to the non-physician who has most contributed to the improvement of health care in Tucson.

The Northwest Fire District's elected governing board approved a contract to name Michael J. Brandt as fire chief. The two-year contract is effective May 28.
Brandt has served as the district's interim fire chief since Oct. 6, following the retirement of Jeff Piechura.
Brandt has more than 35 years of fire/EMS service in the Tucson area. He previously served as Northwest Fire's assistant chief of operations and administered the Operations/Suppression, Emergency Medical Services, Special Operations/Wildland, Training, and Communications divisions.
He is a magna cum laude graduate of Arizona State University in fire administration, and of the Arizona State School of Public Affairs Advanced Public Executive Program, the district said in a news release.
The Arizona Technology Council has elected Roger Vogel, chairman, president and CEO of Tucson-based Vante Medical Technologies, as its board chair.
Vogel is the first chairman from a Tucson company for the Phoenix-based council, which has more than 700 members statewide.
Vogel joined Vante, a developer of precision manufacturing systems for the medical device industry, in March 2005. He previously had a 20-year career with IBM Corp., where his last position was vice president and general manager of IBM's Tucson data-storage development center.

The Pima County Juvenile Court has chosen Kim Smith as its new public information officer.
Smith will act as a liaison between the court and the media, while also keeping members of the general public up to date on programs aimed at helping youths involved in the courts, whether they are going through the dependency or delinquency system.
Smith, a former Arizona Daily Star reporter with more than 20 years of journalism experience, will produce a quarterly communication bulletin, update the court's website and use social media to help get the court's message out.
In 2007, Smith was one of the Star's Employees of the Year, and in 2012, she received an award from the Arizona Press Club for news blog writing.
Arizona Party Rental announced the promotion of Leah Morin from store manager and event specialist to director of showroom operations and senior event specialist.
Morin, an eight-year veteran of Arizona Party Rental, worked in the hospitality, restaurant and resort industry. She was catering manager for Red Sky restaurant, and before that held manager positions at The Lodge at Ventana Canyon, Boulders Resort, the Peaks at Telluride and Carefree Resorts.
Arizona Party Rental announced the promotion of Paul Lofgreen from operations manager to vice president and general manager.
Before joining the company eight years ago, Lofgreen held positions as warehouse supervisor for Parties Plus, technical support representative for AOL, underground miner for Stillwater Mining Co. and underground development supervisor for BHP Copper Co.
He holds a bachelor of science in architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as both a professional bachelor's and post-professional master's of architecture from the University of Arizona.
Williams has worked on projects such as the Rialto Block Renovation in downtown Tucson, which included renovation of restaurant and office interiors. He has also worked on small landscape architecture projects and custom home designs and remodels.
While at the UA, he was involved in the design and construction of a team entry into the 2009 Department of Energy-sponsored Solar Decathlon competition in Washington, D.C.
His strengths include extensive 3D modeling and Revit experience, STG said in a news release.
Bob Malin has joined Tucson-based Chestnut Construction as director of project development.
He will be responsible for marketing, new client development and pre-construction services.
Malin's experience includes the planning, development and construction of retail, office, industrial, R&D, medical office, hospital and communications facilities as well as solar power plants, Chestnut Construction said in a news release.
Originally from San Franciso, Malin moved to Tucson in 2002 "and has since worked closely with many of Tucson's owners, developers, architects, engineers and subcontractors."
Bank of America has named Adriana Kong Romero market president for Tucson and Southern Arizona.
Romero "will work with company leaders across the region to help deliver a wide range of global financial services," the bank said in a news release. She also will oversee corporate philanthropic giving, community development lending and investing, environmental initiatives, diversity efforts, arts and culture projects, and employee volunteerism.
In addition, Romero is a senior client manager for Bank of America Merrill Lynch's Business Banking Group in Tucson and Southern Arizona.
She joined Bank of America 14 years ago as a teller, and has served premier banking clients in global wealth and investment management.
Romero is on the board of the Lohse branch of YMCA of Southern Arizona; a committee member for the Tucson Metro Chamber; and a member of the University of Arizona Eller College Associates.
She is a graduate of the UA with a B.S. in finance and holds an M.S. in organizational management from University of Phoenix.
Brian Erstad, professor and interim head in the department of pharmacy practice and science at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy, has been promoted to head of the department.
A member of the department since 1988, Erstad has served as interim head since February 2012. He was assistant department head from 1997 through 2011.
He also is a clinical pharmacist in critical care at the University of Arizona Medical Center-University Campus and the program director of the college's postgraduate year two critical care pharmacy residency there.
Erstad is a member of the FDA's Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee and a steering committee member of the United States Critical Illness and Injury Trials Group, the UA said in a news release.
Kasey Nye has joined Mesch, Clark & Rothschild P.C. as a partner in the law firm.
Nye has been practicing bankruptcy and restructuring law for more than a decade, representing large and small business and nonprofit entities as debtors and creditors in Arizona and throughout the U.S. He joins the bankruptcy section of the firm.
Nye chairs the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Policy Committee on Budget, Finance and Legal Issues, and previously served on the chamber's Government Affairs and Candidate Evaluation Committees. He was recently named Volunteer of the Month for March by the Volunteer Lawyers Program, which he has served since 2002.
In 2006, Nye was recognized by the University of Arizona Alumni Association as Outstanding Young Alumni Volunteer.
He received a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy and Spanish from the University of Buffalo and his juris doctorate from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona.

Cope, who is part of the firm's employment section, has more than 40 years' experience in employment and labor law, with an emphasis on litigation and representing clients before administrative agencies such entities as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and National Labor Relations Board.
Cope teaches classes at the University of Phoenix and was an adjunct professor in labor law at Pima Community College. He is a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and authored "The Executive Guide to Employment Practices," third edition, the law firm said in a news release. He has been a judge in the area of public employment law.
Cope received a bachelor of arts degree in political science/history with honors from Syracuse University and his juris doctorate from the Nebraska College of Law.

In its 120th year, Arizona State Museum has named Patrick D. Lyons, Ph.D., as director. Lyons, an archaeologist, will be ASM's seventh director since its founding by the territorial Legislature in 1893.
Lyons replaces Beth Grindell, who was named director pending a national search, following the death of Hartman H. Lomawaima in 2008. Lyons will assume the directorship on June 1.
Nancy Odegaard, ASM's head of preservation and chair of the search committee, praised Lyons' scholarly credentials in the Southwest, administrative experience in a university museum, and leadership in repatriation.
Lyons has served as head of collections at Arizona State Museum since 2006 and as associate director since 2009. Before that he was a preservation archaeologist at Archaeology Southwest (previously known as Center for Desert Archaeology) in Tucson.
Lyons is best known for his fieldwork and research on the Salado phenomenon in the San Pedro River Valley in southeastern Arizona, and for his research on the collections housed at Arizona State Museum, the museum said in a news release.
Tucson-based Chestnut Construction Corp. announced that Randy S. Bond has joined the company as a partner and as vice president and senior project manager. He has 33 years of commercial construction experience in public and private sector projects.
Tom Chestnut will continue to serve as chief executive officer and Pat Johnson as president.
Bond served with the U.S. Army prior to his construction career. He owned and operated a construction company in Phoenix for several years before settling in Tucson in 1998.
His education includes journeyman level advanced classes, active involvement with the Carpenter union, and he holds a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Phoenix. He volunteers with the Arizona Builders Alliance where he was named Volunteer of the Year in 2012.

The board of Tucson-based Critical Path Institute (C-Path) announced Thursday that Martha Brumfield was named interim president and chief executive officer.
Brumfield, C-Path's former director of international and regulatory programs, takes over immediately for Dr. Carolyn Compton, who is moving full-time to the National Biomarkers Development Alliance based at Arizona State University.
Brumfield, who holds a Ph.D., brings leadership and experience from her career in bio-pharma, "having successfully led global organizations, both large and small, through the complex arena of medical product approval," said Peter B. Corr, chairman of the C-Path board, in a news release.
Brumfield will help C-Path "benefit patients worldwide" by continuing its mission to expand "novel tools and methodologies that will accelerate the development and review of medical products," Corr said.

Rodriguez returns to Tucson after two years of serving as executive chef of the Hotel Galvez & Spa in Galveston, Texas.
He has 20 years of culinary experience.
