Gasoline prices decline for eighth week in a row
Gasoline prices at the pump around Arizona are lower for the eighth consecutive week and now are at an 11-week low.
The average statewide price for regular is $3.45 a gallon, AAA Arizona said Thursday. That's a decrease of nearly a nickel from last week.
Tucson has the lowest average gasoline price in Arizona at $3.23 a gallon, down 3 cents since last week.
This week's national average is $3.52 per gallon, up by more than a penny from last week.
AAA analysts say production issues and weather are contributing to higher prices in other parts of the country.
Study: Childhood income influences investments
PHOENIX - A new study says a person's childhood economic status influences his or her investment strategies as an adult.
The study by Arizona State University researchers found that people from low-income backgrounds are more likely to diversify their financial strategies in the hopes that at least one option will work out. The study found diversification was the best strategy for people in unstable environments.
In contrast, people from wealthy backgrounds tend to concentrate their resources. For them, putting all their eggs in the same stable basket is the best approach.
Researchers say the findings show gut instincts are shaped by evolutionary logic.
