Walmart is hiring for 2 grocery stores

Walmart is hiring approximately 180 full- or part-time employees to work in two new Walmart Neighborhood Markets scheduled to open in April.

One new store will be at East Broadway and Camino Seco; the second will be at Golf Links and Kolb Roads.

Two temporary hiring centers have opened:

• A center at 7419 E. 22nd St. is accepting applications from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays for the store opening at Golf Links and Kolb.

• The other, at 7225 E. Broadway, Suite 140, is taking applications from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays for the Broadway-Camino Seco store.

Radio host Medved to broadcast from here

Conservative radio talk-show host Michael Medved will broadcast his nationally syndicated show live from Tucson on Thursday, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., on KVOI (1030-AM) "The Voice."

Medved is being hosted at a public reception by KVOI's Chris DeSimone and Joe Higgins. The reception is at 6 p.m. Thursday at University Marriott Hotel, 880 E. Second St. The cost is $25 per person including appetizers. Register at www.kvoi.com/registration.php or 790-2440.

ARIZONA

Phoenix facility plans to hire 1,000 workers

PHOENIX - A financial-services firm is planning to hire 1,000 workers at its north Phoenix facility over three years.

USAA caters to military families and operates a large campus in north Phoenix.

One out of four USAA employees is a veteran or spouse of a veteran.

The company announced plans Tuesday to expand its facility near Interstate 17.

USAA's existing north Phoenix facility employs about 3,200 workers.

Company officials say the new jobs created will include statistics analysts, business and financial analysts, underwriters, information security specialists and those that focus on banking, investment, insurance and claims.
