Nine local businesses were recognized by the Better Business Bureau Serving Southern Arizona, Thursday, at its annual Torch Awards Luncheon at JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort in Tucson.

The Torch Awards are open to for-profit businesses who are physically located or do business within BBB's service area, which consists of five counties — Pima, Santa Cruz, Cochise, Greenlee and Graham. It recognizes business who have demonstrated good business practices, support of local charities and community service and outstanding customer service.

In all, more than 70 Southern Arizona businesses were nominated for the awards.

This year's winners are:

Oschmann Employee Screening Service won the Ethics Award for trustworthy and honorable business practices. Tucson College and Native Tele-Data Solutions were finalists.

NOVA Home Loans won The Good Neighbor Award for its efforts in community service. Decorating Den Interiors and Salon Nouveau were finalists.

Commercial Cleaning & Restoration won The Customer Excellence Award, which recognizes businesses with outstanding customer service and exceeding customer expectations. Essential Pest Management and BRAKEmax Car Care Centers were finalists.
