Tucson-area home sales fell behind last year’s pace in April but rebounded from March even as prices rose, according to the Tucson Association of Realtors.
The number of homes sold in the Tucson market rose to 1,301 in April, up 15 percent from March but down 1.7 percent from April 2013, says the latest report on listed home sales by the Realtors’ Multiple Listing Service.
The average home sales price in April was $197,066, down 1.7 percent from March but 2.6 percent above the average price in April 2013. The median sales price — which moderates the skewing effect of very high and very low sales prices — was $164,900 in April, up 1.8 percent from March and 5 percent higher than April 2013.
New listings fell nearly 5 percent from March, with 2,021 in April, but that was slightly higher than last year. Active listings were down 4 percent from March, at 5,466, but they remained nearly 36 percent higher than April 2013, according to the Realtors group.
