A national magazine has given a Tucson boutique recognition for its eclectic taste.

Martha Stewart Living features Bon in its December issue, under the "Our Finds" label.

"It's really exciting because it's Martha," said Crystal Flynt, who owns the shop with her mother, Bonnie Flynt, the store's namesake. "Her magazine is one of our favorites."

Tucson-based magazine contributor Jennifer Smith chose the store and asked the Flynts to host a photo shoot for the magazine and to submit several items they sell to be featured in the story.

Bonnie said she's noticed a slight bump in sales since the magazine began arriving in subscribers' houses, but she says it's too early to evaluate the impact.

The process started last summer, when Smith came up with the pitch and brought the idea to the Flynts, who sell clothing, decorative items and other trinkets at Bon.

In the story, Smith notes the Flynts' sense of style, writing: "The Flynt women enliven their space with eclectic treasures tracked down near and far, with juxtaposition being their specialty: old combined with new, rough with refined, fun with serious."

Crystal said Bon's edginess has to do with their passion rather than trying to stay on top of trends.

"We're interested in things that stand the test of time. Things that have a hand-touch; small designers. We just really buy what we love all the time," Crystal said. "We can't sell anything if we don't love it, and we wouldn't be able to do what we do if we didn't love what we had in the store. We have a passion for finding new things. Pieces that are well-made, well-crafted and made on a small production level."

Bonnie said she doesn't plan on framing the article and hanging it in the store, saying that's one thing that's "not my style."
