Wildflower Grill was the fifth restaurant Sam Fox opened in Tucson, but it was the one that launched his now phenomenal restaurant career.
Fox opened Wildflower at 7037 N. Oracle Road in spring 1998 and by 2000 he started Fox Restaurant Concepts. Within a couple of years he had opened five restaurants and his Fox Restaurant Concepts was expanding into the Phoenix area and out of state.
From 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, the restaurant will celebrate its 15th anniversary with a menu that borrows from its past. The cost is $45 per person and reservations are required.
Here's what you can expect:
Appetizer: cold smoked salmon and chive crème fraiche with potato galette; or crisp calamari with mizuna greens, yuzu emulsion, and toasted sesame seeds
Salad: baby spinach salad with glazed pecans and maytag blue cheese; or Fox’s famous Chinese salad
Entrée: lamb chop with potato puree and asparagus; or braised chicken with mild mushroom risotto; or grilled ahi and forbidden rice, soy butter, tempura vegetable
Dessert: Chocoholic or Key Lime Tart.
• On Oct. 2, the restaurant will continue the celebration with a Tucson Foodie meet-up from 5 to 7 p.m. That one features a three-course dinner that includes a roasted beer and goat cheese salad, pan-seared halibut or herb-crusted rack of lamb, and pumpkin doughnuts for dessert. The cost is $35 per person.
