The Garage Eatery and Pub, the gastro-pubby corner restaurant and watering hole in a renovated downtown gas station, will open at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14.

It will be the first time that folks can check out the work that owner David Blair has put into the place over the past year or more.

Initially, Blair and a couple partners had said they would open an outpost of Florida fast-casual fish taco stand Jimmy Hula's. A few months later, Blair and his partners split ways and Blair took the project in a whole new direction late last year.

The corner spot at 802 N. Fourth Ave. was renovated to retain its service station charm, including keeping garage doors and the original awning over the spot where gas pumps once stood when it was Zimmer's in the 1950s and later Boatner's Auto Garage. Beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday, diners will sit at tables where mechanics once changed folks' oil or tuned up their engines.

The Garage will carry a rotating selection of 14 locally and regionally brewed craft beers and a healthy craft cocktail menu.
