mixed chorus to help Interfaith services

Terrie Ashbaugh will lead her mixed-voice summer choral group in a concert Friday to benefit Interfaith Community Services.

This is the fourth year the group of vocalists has performed for the nonprofit .

"Alleluias to Moo Moo's" includes Randall Thompson's "Alleluia" and what Ashbaugh described in a news release as audience singalongs from the barnyard.

Ashbaugh founded the chorus four summers ago as a way to keep the members of her Southern Arizona Women's Chorus sharp during the off-season.

She opened the group to other ensembles and several responded, including Desert Tones, Desert Voices, Sons of Orpheus, Tucson Masterworks Chorale, the University of Arizona Faculty/ Staff Choir and the choirs from Ascension Lutheran Church, Christ the King Episcopal Church and St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.

Friday's concert begins at 7 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1220 W. Magee Road, in Oro Valley. Admission is free, but donations of cash and nonperishable foods will be accepted for the Interfaith Community Services Food Bank. Details: Call 404-3148.
