Arizona Smith is back.

The Gaslight Theatre's "Arizona Smith and the Temple of Doom" took a five-year rest, and now is chuckling up the stage again.

And while the script is much the same, the cast has done some switchups.

Sweet Tarreyn Van Slyke takes on the role of the evil German spy who, along with other bad guys, wants to possess the Lost Relic of Doom - whoever has it is all-powerful. Van Slyke typically is the dimple-faced innocent in Gaslight productions. She was the sweet one in the last production of this play; clearly she loves evil even more - she was a hoot.

Someone must stop those evil folk from destroying the world with the Lost Relic of Doom as their weapon.

Enter the archeologist Arizona Smith.

Mike Yarema steps into the lead role at Gaslight. He came across as deliciously dashing. He isn't as wrapped in silly as David Fanning was in the role in the earlier production, but this is Gaslight, remember. Silly is the company's soundtrack.

One thing was the same - Todd Thompson in his role as the evil Colonel Heimlich. Just as in the last "Temple" production, he proved he can sing, he can dance and he can make us laugh with just a sneer to the audience.

"Arizona Smith" doesn't have the usual damsel in distress - we like that - but it does have the bad puns, rock 'n' roll songs selected to kind of illustrate a story point, and terrific sets by the talented Tom Benson.

The olio paid tribute to "The Brady Bunch." Bad '70s hair and costumes ruled. And a revival of some songs that never should have been made in the first place. It's very funny, especially with Joe Cooper who, despite his getting a bit long in the tooth, was all dolled up as the youngest Brady daughter, Cindy.
