Invisible Theatre has canceled its run of "Dead Guilty," starring Leanné Whitewolf-Charlton, left, and Susan Arnold.

A lead actress' illness has forced the cancellation of "Dead Guilty," Invisible Theatre's first play of the new year.

That's got to be painful — for director Terry Erbe, who was shaping his first play at IT, as well as the incredibly talented cast: Susan Arnold, Jesse Boone, Cynthia Jeffery, and Leanné Whitewolf-Charlton.

Susan Claassen, IT's managing artistic director, says they've never had to cancel a run before, though a performance has had to be canceled here and there. That's about four decades without having to cancel a full run.

It's sad news. Today's shaky economic environment is especially unkind to arts organizations. The bottom line can barely afford something like this to happen.

If you've a ticket, call the theatre: 882-9271.

Meanwhile, hope the actress recovers quickly. And that IT does, as well.
