The University of Arizona School of Music and the Tucson Guitar Society are hosting the fifth International Tucson Guitar Festival starting Sunday.

The fest runs through Nov. 17 with performances and workshops at the School of Music on campus, North Park Avenue and East Speedway. Here are three reasons not to miss it:

1. The guest artists: Some of the biggest names in classical guitar starting with Grammy-winning guitar duo Sérgio and Odair Assad, performing Nov. 16 and 17, and flamenco and classical guitarist Grisha Goryachev, who performs Nov. 15.

2. The student artists: The annual Beeston Guitar Competition Finals on Sunday give us a glimpse at the dynamic talent being nurtured at the UA.

3. Did we mention

Goryachev?: The Russian virtuoso is one of only a few guitarists in the world playing solo flamenco guitar in a concert setting.
