Arizona Theatre Company now has until July 11 to raise as much money as it can in a dollar-for-dollar matching fundraising campaign.

To date, ATC has brought in $62,000 in donations toward the $200,000 matching gift from an anonymous donor.

Originally, the donor had given the company, which mounts productions in Tucson and Phoenix, until July 1. But Thursday, officials said the donor agreed to give them 10 more days.

“We’ve been getting such a great response, and because the campaign started on June 16, our donor was a bit concerned that two weeks might not have been enough time for those wishing to give to make their contribution,” said ATC Managing Director Jessica L. Andrews in a news release. “We’ve still got donations coming in; in fact, we have a stack of envelopes that arrived today and, with the holiday, the donor felt that extra time would be important.”

ATC is trying to close a $1 million deficit. An aggressive fundraising campaign last fall brought in $1 million, which helped the company pay its bills and make it through last season.

As of July 1, 269 donors had contributed $62,000 in gifts toward the $200,000 goal, with donations ranging from $25 to $5,000, ATC reported.

“We haven’t had time to process those donations that just came in, so the number of donors may be closer to 300 by now. We just wanted to let people know that it’s still OK to give,” Andrews said. “We don’t close our books until July 11, so the timing works very well.”
