The brothers of the man who ran Cactus Moon country nightclub in Tucson for 23 years are opening a country music-themed venture in the same spot.
Odessa, Texas-based Graham Brothers Entertainment, which has operated country music night clubs in the Phoenix area since the 1970s, has leased the 12,000-square-foot building at 5470 E. Broadway and hope to open an outpost of Denim & Diamonds by late October, said Graham Brothers President Roger Gearhart.
As a stipulation to the lease, landlords Larsen Baker insisted that Gary Graham, who owned Cactus Moon, not be involved in the project. Gearhart said Gary Graham is not part of the Graham Brothers.
Gary Graham was locked out of the building last summer after falling six weeks behind in the $25,000 monthly rent. Graham had run the club with his wife, Virginia.
The couple last fall opened Cactus Moon in Casa Grande.
The Graham Brothers have a Denim & Diamonds in Mesa and two others — one in Texas and another in Kansas. They operate restaurant/nighclubs in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona, Kansas and Louisiana.
