Denim & Diamonds country music nightclub plans to open at 6 p.m. Friday in the former home of the Cactus Moon.

Patrons will have to wait until April 4 to eat at Double DD’s Pizza, located inside the club. The restaurant will open at 11 a.m. daily and close at 2 a.m.

Odessa, Texas-based Graham Brothers Entertainment had hoped to have both ventures open by last Halloween, but construction work pushed it back.

The company operates Denim & Diamond clubs in Mesa, Texas and Kansas.

Gary Graham, the former owner of Cactus Moon, has no business affiliation with Graham Brothers, which is owned by his siblings. Cactus Moon had been in business at 5470 E. Broadway for 23 years when the landlord evicted them in July 2012 after falling $25,000 behind in rent.

Graham Brothers Entertainment has operated country music-themed clubs and restaurants in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas and the Phoenix area since the 1970s.

Local management could not be reached for comment, but if the Tucson club follows the example of its siblings, expect weekly drink specials and occasional concerts by Nashville country artists.

Denim & Diamond Tucson’s Facebook page states that the club will be open from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. Opening weekend specials include $5 cover charge on Friday with $1.50 bar drinks and longnecks until 11 p.m. Men pay $6 cover on Saturday, but women are free that day before 11 p.m.

Denim & Diamonds’ opening comes two weeks after Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill closed its Tucson Mall restaurant/club. It had been open just 14 months.
