El Parador Restaurant, a longtime tropically-themed Mexican restaurant, officially closed on Thursday, ending a 40-year run on East Broadway.

Owner Loretta Jacob Carlson said the family has decided to "move on and get out of (the) full-service" restaurant business. She said she and her brothers, who co-own the restaurant started by their family, will announce their next chapter in the next couple weeks.

Carlson, who managed the restaurant, would not comment when asked what those plans were, but said they will not involve the restaurant's building at 2744 E. Broadway.
