Former KIIM 99.5 FM DJ Lois Lewis spent nearly an hour being interrogated by TSA officers at Sky Harbor International Airport this week, all courtesy of a 2-ounce bottle of her favorite perfume.

Lewis — who also goes by her married name White — was stopped at the Phoenix airport as she was getting ready to board a flight to Denver to meet with with some of her Republic Nashville artists. She is the label's West Coast regional promotions director, representing artists including The Band Perry, Cassadee Pope and Eli Young Band.

Usually Lewis packs her Jimmy Choo perfume — she says it's her signature fragrance — in her check-in luggage. But on this flight it was in her carry on, sealed in a plastic sandwich bag. TSA officers X-raying the bag thought the bottle looked like a grenade. More officers were brought in and after being questioned, having her ID photocopied and facing the possibility of being bodily searched, TSA confiscated the $83 bottle of perfume.

Lewis told a Phoenix TV station that she bought another bottle once she arrived in Denver and packed it in her suitcase for the return flight to Phoenix. Lewis said she later noticed that that bag had apparently been searched.
