Green Valley-based Fork U BBQ and Tucson's Beyond Bread finished in the Top 10 of the second annual World Food Championships in Las Vegas earlier this month.

Fork U BBQ — the team of Tracey Nahrwold and Tracy Santa Cruz — finished fifth in the semifinals round of the dessert competition with their infused berry creme brulé. Beyond Bread, which came in second place at last year's inaugural competition, finished third in the sandwich category with its grilled salmon sandwich.

More than 300 competitors started the World Food Championships in Las Vegas on Nov. 7; only one was left standing at the finals on Nov. 10. The competition was filmed and will be broadcast over six episodes on A&E next year, contest officials said.
