Tucson sails into Margaritaville as 16 mixologists competed in the World Margarita Championship last Friday at the Tucson Museum of Art. The winner is from Sonora.

The Greatest Margarita hails from a place that you would expect to produce the world’s greatest margarita — Sonora, Mexico.

At Friday’s seventh annual World Margarita Championship at the Tucson Museum of Art, Julio Blanco from the Marinaterra Resort in Sonora took top honors. Last year, he won the People’s Choice award.

And in a weird twist, last year’s champ, Ryan Clark from Lodge on the Desert, took home this year’s People’s Choice. Both won with their versions of the classic margarita.
