James Reel resigned as executive director of Chamber Music Plus, the organization's founder and artistic director Harry Clark said Friday.

Clark said he asked for Reel's resignation. Clark would not comment further.

Reel was named to the post last September, taking over the duties long performed by  Clark's wife and the group's co-founder Sanda Schuldmann. Three months later, in mid-December, Reel was also named executive director of the all-volunteer Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra.

Reel, a KUAT-FM radio personality, sits on the boards of several arts organizations including Tucson Desert Song Festival. The festival kicked off Friday and runs through next weekend, when Chamber Music Plus will present "Passionately Piazzolla" with Ballet Tucson and the Tucson Guitar Society.
