Chinese pianist Lang Lang canceled his Tucson concert on Sunday so that he would not be trapped outside of New York City and miss his Carnegie Hall concert on Tuesday.

Turns out Hurricane Sandy put the kibosh on that gig, as well. Carnegie Hall announced today that the "Lang Lang and Friends" concert to benefit the pianist's eponymous foundation has been pushed back to June 3. Joshua Bell and Alec Baldwin were on tap as special guests.

Lang on Saturday called off his Sunday UApresents recital, citing travel complications due to the incoming hurricane. Flights were coming in and going out of New York City Saturday and most of Sunday, but Lang likely figured he would have difficulty returning to the city today. As it turned out, he was right; all New York flights are grounded.

Those with tickets to Tuesday's Carnegie Hall show can use them in June. Those who had tickets for his Tucson show can return them for a refund or exchange them for another UApresents performance.
