Li'l Abner's Steakhouse in Marana will reopen at 5 p.m. today after a three-week hiatus.

During the break, the restaurant at 8501 N. Silverbell in the Continental Ranch community got a deep cleaning and renovation.

Among the changes: The 16 stools ringing the wooden bar are now a bright red instead of black. The checkered tablecloths are new and the bathrooms have been remodeled, said Molly Hoffman, whose husband David has owned Li'l Abner's for 33 years.

"We didn't change the character of the place," Molly Hoffman said. "We just did some fun stuff."

The menu of steaks and cowboy beans remains the same, and the restaurant added a beer on draft and a hard cider. They also are remaking the wine menu and may include Arizona wines, said David Hoffman.

At tonight's opening, Tucson country singer Jack Bishop will perform from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. He performs Friday and Saturday nights. For more information, call 744-2800.
