The twitterazi is all a twitter and Facebook is buzzing about the announcement earlier today that McDonald's will roll out a trio of new Quarter Pounders.

But the real buzz is about the new bacon — reportedly thicker, apple wood smoked at some locations. (Not sure if any of those are in Tucson.)

McDonald's said it was booting its spendy third-pound burgers and replacing them with a trio of new pounders including a bacon and Cheddar variety and one featuring a habanero ranch sauce.

The burgers also will feature buns made with eight grams of whole grain.

The new sandwiches will debut in mid-June, company officials announced. Stay tuned.
