The restaurant, opened by Charles Kendrick — the original Mr. K — his daughter Rhonda Kendrick, local restauranteur John Foster and executive chef Steve Sargent closed after a little more than two years in business.

After a little more than two years in business, Mr. K's Barbeque has closed its doors at 4911 N. Stone Ave.

Owners of the restaurant, a spinoff of the Original Mr. K's on South Park Avenue, posted a farewell message on its Facebook page on Monday night.

"It was a difficult decision and is with a heavy heart that we inform all our friends and guests that Sunday Oct 13, 2013 was our last day of business at Mr. K's Barbeque - River and Stone," the post read.

No formal explanation was given on why the restaurant closed.

The post did encourage patrons to visit the original location, at 6302 S. Park Ave.
