No, it's not an April Fool's Day joke: After five years of being shuttered, Saguaro Corners is reopening today.

When the new neon lights come on and the "Now Open" sign gets flipped at 3 p.m., it will mark the end of three-month, $500,000 renovation journey that expanded the historic restaurant's patio area and updated the bar to included garage doors.

The newly dubbed Saguaro Corners Ice House, 3750 S. Old Spanish Trail, servs a Latin-inspired menu of tacos and tapas. Dishes represent Mexico and Central and South America, said chef-owner Gabe Greenberg.

Greenberg is partners in the venture with Mesquite Homes builder Jim Campbell, who also has the Sawmill Run Restaurant on Mount Lemmon. Greenberg is the chef at that restaurant.

Saguaro Corners is open daily at 3 p.m.; when it begins its regular hours, it will open daily at 11 a.m. Details: 886-2020.
