Today, 96.1 FM KLPX announced it's KLPX Fest lineup will be headlined by the Steve Miller Band.
Other performers at the May 23rd concert will include Peter Frampton, .38 Special, Ratt, Starship and Edgar Winter Group.
This is Miller's first Tucson appearance since he played the Pima County Fair in 1997. The rocker has made a few trips to the Old Peublo over the years, including a Feb. 8, 1977, gig at the Tucson Community Center, now the Tucson Convention Center. Miller, who was here to promote his "Fly Like an Eagle" album, played in front of 9,000 fans and told a reporter, "I don't think I've made my major contributions to music yet; there's still plenty of time for that." I wonder what he'd say today?
Frampton, who won a Grammy in 2007 for his instrumental album, "Fingerprints," has a new record called "Thank You Mr. Churchill" due next month.
KLPX Fest tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at all Tucson-area Catalina Mart locations. Tickets for the show, which will be held at the Pima County Fairground, are $24 for the first 24 hours.
