FLORENCE — Joe Diffie made a triumphant return to Country Thunder this afternoon to kick off the final day of 2014 festival.

His shows are a stroll down country radio's heydays, hits that crossed the 1980s and 1990s and still sound as fresh and exciting: "Third Rock From The Sun," "John Deere Green," "Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox," "Home."

His hourlong set before a crowd that loosely filled the lawn here is likely not the only time we will hear him today. Diffie earlier today hinted that he may join headliner Jason Aldean and Tyler Farr, who goes on in 10 minutes, said he might have Diffie on with him.

Farr also could have Colt Ford join him, he said in an interview from his tour bus an hour ago. The pair have been friends for years, he said.

Stay tuned. ....
