The National Endowment for the Arts is giving $190,000 in grants to seven Tucson organizations including two grants totaling $80,000 to Tucson Meet Yourself.

The latest round of NEA grants also includes $791,300 for the Phoenix-based Arizona Commission on the Arts, which supports Arizona arts organizations.

In all the NEA awarded 16 Arizona organizations a total of $1.2 million in grants. Tucson recipients:

• Sonoran Art Foundation Inc. (aka Sonoran Glass School), $30,000 to support arts education.

• Tucson Meet Yourself Inc., $35,000 to support the Tucson Meet Yourself Folklife Festival; $45,000 to support The Borderlands Folk Arts and Culture Network.

• University of Arizona, $20,000 for the Poetry Center's 52nd Annual Reading and Lecture Series and Voca; $20,000 to fund a visiting artist lecture series in visual arts.

• Western Jazz Presenters Network Inc., $15,000 to fund performance and educational outreach tours by pianist and composer Billy Childs and his Quartet throughout the western United States.
