Tucson is getting its first LongHorn Steakhouse, an outpost of the popular Florida-based chain that has several Phoenix-area locations.

LongHorn's parent company, Darden Restaurants, signed a long-term lease last month for a 62,796-square-foot parcel at 5725 E. Broadway, where it will build a 6,200-square-foot restaurant, company officials confirmed.

Company officials on Friday said they anticipate opening in early 2014.

Darden Restaurants also owns Olive Garden and Red Lobster and has more than 2,100 restaurants worldwide through its subsidiaries.
