For the pizza lover who wants to enjoy the sort-of Italian dish without feeling like a Benedict Arnold Friday, Falora Pizza, 3000 E. Broadway, has the answer.

Unlike the typical dessert pizza sprinkled dutifully with patriotic berries, the red, white and blue pie at Falora uses Hopi blue corn for a Southwestern take on the margherita pizza. Atop crushed San Marzano tomatoes and sprinkled mozzarella cheese, that splash of blue will add the fireworks-worthy sizzle to the wood-fired pizza.

Opening at 4 p.m. for dinner on Friday Falora will serve its traditional menu and the $13 "Falorath (of July)" through the weekend — unless it runs out. For more information or to make reservations, call 325-9988.
