After weeks of public speculation, V Modern Thai downtown has officially closed.

Owners Vila and Redman Jarrell announced the move on Facebook this morning, saying that it was "with a heavy heart we regret to announce" the closing.

In early May, Tucson Weekly reported that the restaurant would close that week, an account that Vila Jarrell vehemently denied. Jarrell told the Star in a written statement then that she and the restaurant's landlords were locked in a dispute arising from the prolonged downtown road construction from the streetcar project. She said at the time that the matter was heading to court.

V Thai had been in Tucson nine years. opening their first location near the University of Vila Jarrell also operates V Protein Smoothies & Juice Bar out of the LA Fitness at 240 S. Wilmot Road.
