Tucson restaurateur Jason Anderson is reopening his popular Asian fusion eatery Umi Star today after a nearly two-month closure to remodel the restaurant and rejigger the menu.

The restaurant at 2502. N. Campbell Ave. opens at 11 a.m. today.

The new menu includes Japanese sushi married with Mexican food — imagine a bento box that sets a taco alongside a sushi roll. They call it the Bendito Box; clever.

Also new with the remodel/new menu: Taco Tuesdays , where any taco on the menu is $2 all day Tuesday. The restaurant's Facebook page promises such taco delights as panko-breaded fish, carnitas, barbacoa, chicken, tempura shrimp and tofu-vegetable.

Meanwhile, Anderson is knee-deep in two other restaurant projects: Hudson, a 5,000-square-foot restaurant at 201 N. Fourth Ave.; and Original ChopShop, a sandwich, salad and pressed juice joint in St. Philip’s Plaza. Anderson has two other ChopShop locations in the Phoenix area.
